Spined Mermaid Necklace

“In July 1833, six fishermen off Scotland’s Ilse of Yell hauled aboard a mermaid who had become tangled in their lines. The men described her as being about three feet in length, with “bristles extending from her head to her shoulders that could be raised or lowered”.

This salt water mermaid is sculpted in dark shades of blue and purple. Her scaled pattern is borrowed from a salt water fish. She is accented with 6 curved black bristles. Her hand sculpted scales are kissed with iridescent blue, purple and gold. She is detailed with vibrant teal microbeads.

• Strung on a very long 33″ soldered gunmetal chain
• Vulva pendant size: 1.9″ x 1
• Embellished with a sharp shell and glass cathedral bead

The model for this piece is Violet.

Never made with a mold. Each Vulva pendant is the hand-sculpted clay original. We prefer clay to resin for its fleshy look and texture.
